Coach Abby spent her childhood swimming with Santa Barbara Swim Club. She attended Gordon College, a Division III liberal arts school on the East coast, and swam 4 years on the college swim team while earning a degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She has coached age group and high school swimming on and off over the years and most recently began coaching age group at Buenaventura Swim Club in the fall of 2021. Her favorite events are the 200 free, 200 backstroke, and 200IM. She enjoys coaching and encouraging athletes to reach for their goals.
Coach Kris joined Buenaventura Swim Club in the Fall 2021. When he swam for Rio Mesa High School his two favorite events were the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Kris looks forward to helping swimmers that he will interact with improve in the sport and reach their goals. He also encourages the swimmers to their fullest potential by fostering new skills through hard work and encouragement.
Coach Rebecca has been swimming since she started to walk. After moving to Ventura in 2014, she joined the Buenaventura Swim Club under Coach Betsy. She competed for the next 6 years until she injured her knee. She came back to the swim club as a Coach in 2022. She loves teaching kids the strokes and seeing all their hard work pay off.
Coach David began swimming at the age of 8 years old after watching the Beijing Olympic swimming events. Since those Olympic games, he has trained and swam for 12 years. David went to Southern California CIF Division 1 for all four of his high school years. He began coaching after graduating high school in 2016. David took a small break from coaching to finish his degree in history at Cal Lutheran University along with study abroad opportunities that presented themselves. He has returned to coaching and has been loving it ever since.
Kylie started swimming competitively at the age of seven and spent much of her club swimming career at Dads Club Swim Team in Houston, TX. She attended Auburn University where she swam and earned a degree BA in Communication.
After starting her career in Human Resources, she went back to Dads Club to coach age group swimmers. She has a deep love for the sport of swimming and has continued to pursue this passion on and off over the years for various masters’ teams, most recently swimming for Ventura County Masters team. Her favorite events these days are the 100 IM and 50 back. She is a USMS Level 1 Certified Coach and enjoys creating a positive environment where swimmers can achieve their personal goals.
