Luke Corley Head Coach

Coach Luke began competitive swimming when he was 11 years old at the YMCA after being in aquatics most of his life. Growing up with swim lessons, ocean swimming, junior lifeguards, surfing, and water polo he eventually tried competitive swimming and instantly liked it. Diving into the water was a whole world where he was in full control - just a race by him against the clock, with a whole team to back him up. Coach Luke joined Buenaventura Swim Club and was quickly introduced to a new level of training, competition, and challenges. He proceeded to become a Zone and Sectional level swimmer and competed Varsity for four years at high school. A shoulder injury from water polo forced him to hang up his goggles Senior year.

After attending UC Davis, Coach Luke returned to Ventura and proceeded to start the next phase of his life. Coach Luke eventually started working for the swim club that he knew and loved as a side job. Beginning as a Pre-Comp Coach, Luke advanced to Bronze (now Stroke Development), to Silver (now Age Group), to Gold (now Junior), to Assistant Head Coach, and finally to Head Coach. Luke is thrilled to be leading this club and has enjoyed every minute of working with the kids.

To make sure the swimmers get the best training possible, Coach Luke has advanced training in Athlete Development, Child Development, Strength Training, Pain Prevention and Mitigation, Stroke Mechanics, Long Term Athlete Development, multiple Athlete Development Matrices, and Mental, Psychological, and Cognitive Skill Development in Adolescents. Utilizing this, Coach Luke has developed his simple philosophy for coaching. "I coach so that they can be better than I was. Better athletes. Better swimmers. Better people."

Athlete accomplishments under Coach Luke include:
  • Summer Junior National Qualification
  • Winter Junior National Qualifications
  • Masters Nationals Qualifications
  • CIF State Champions
  • Future Qualifications
  • Sectional Qualifications
  • JO Qualifications (now Age Group Championships)
  • WAG Qualifications
  • JAG Qualifications
  • SCS All-Star athletes
Coach Luke has coached numerous athletes to swim for many colleges, including UC Berkeley, Harvard, George Washington University, UC Davis, University of New Hampshire, UC San Diego, Rochester Institute of Technology, and UC Santa Barbara.
Daniel Broger-Mackey Assistant Head Coach

Coach Daniel began his swimming career at the age of three, after almost drowning at a pool party. From that moment on, he has always been close to the water. He took swim lessons at his local YMCA, eventually joining the YMCA’s swim team. Daniel was a four year varsity swimmer and four year city champion at Cleveland High School. He also swam at Los Angeles Valley College for two years before hanging up his cap and goggles.

While at Valley College, Coach Daniel got his first taste of coaching and was immediately hooked. Working at the same YMCA he grew up at, he began immersing himself in the process of being a better teacher and coach. He made the team a USA Swimming certified club and played an instrumental role in growing the YMCA program from twenty to seventy swimmers in approximately twelve months. Upon leaving the team in 2016, Daniel started coaching with CCAT Swimming in the San Fernando Valley.

During his time with the CCAT program, Coach Daniel coached dozens of Junior Olympic and Age Group Championship level swimmers. He became the Head Age Group Coach and Head Coach of the Masters program during his tenure. He is a ACSA level two coach and a USMS level three coach. Most recently, Coach Daniel spent some time with North County Aquatics in Paso Robles.
